Making your bots Join

Congratulations on your bot approval.

First, you must have the email showing your Nick, Hostmask and your password.
This mail also shows the names of the bots that were set up for you.

Here are the steps you must preform to get your bots:
1. First, connect to IRC using the same Nick and IDENT/hostmask as shown on your E-Mail

2. /join #BotServices channel. You should see the two bots there that were listed on your E-mail.

3. Choose one botname that was assigned to you and /msg botnick LOGIN password
Use the password from your email. DO NOT use botnick, use the name of one of your bots :)
If one is BServ-06 on the email, then /msg BServ-06 LOGIN password
the bot should respond with a message saying -botnick- LOGIN Authentication successful..
If it says -botnick- LOGIN Authentication failed... check your ident and make sure you have right password and try again.
If it still is not successfull, ask in #Botservices for help.

4. Once login is successful, you call the bots to your channel by typing in the #BotServices channel this command for *each* bot

botnick go #channel

Then do same for other bot, this will make the bots join your channel
After they join, OP them, then type in your channel:

botnick help

Help for commands are also found here. Please do not ask for help
with commands that are listed in this HELP/FAQ, we will only tell you
to go back here to read it :)

How do I ask add bot to X on UnderNet?

To add your bot to X, you must use the correct username. The bots username is hte bots nickname without the -. For example, if you bot is BServ-01, username on X would be bserv01. If bot is BServ-14, username on X would be bserv14 etc etc etc.

Command to add to X is:
/msg X adduser [#channel] [username] [access]
[#channel] is the name of your channel
[username] is the bots username
[access] is access level, usually 100 is enough, but make it as high as you want.

After adding to X, you need to set automode op for the bot on X. The command
to do this is:
/msg X modinfo [#channel] automode [username] op
[#channel] is the name of your channel
[username] is the bots username

For help with X commands, see CService X Command List or ask in #CService channel.

How do I ask add bot to K9 on ChatNet?

To add the bot to K9 you add it just like a normal user, with one exception.

You *MUST* put a $ in front of the bots nickname when you add it!
The $ causes the bot's hostmask to add correctly.

The command to add to K9 is:
K9 adduser $[nickname] [level]
$[nickname] is the bots nickname with a $, like $CN-01 or $CN-15
[level] is access level, usually 100 is enough, but make it as high as you want.

You can also /msg K9 adduser [#channel] $[nickname] [level]

After you add the user, set auto-op mode on as follows:
K9 autoop [#channel] [nickname] f

My bot keeps kicking/banning users for flooding, what is wrong???

The easy answer is: nothing ;) bot is doing what it is set to do, BUT you can change it.

The following are flood settings, the command to set them is:

(/msg) botnick chanset (#channel) flood-type number:seconds

flood-type is one of the following:

  • flood-chan - flood level for channel public chatter & actions
  • flood-ctcp - this defines the flood level for ctcp's to the channel (include PING & VERSION), except for ACTION's
  • flood-join - this defines the number of joins from a give user@host that constituts a flood
  • flood-kick - how many kicks in the given time are a flood
  • flood-deop - deops in the given time

number:seconds are integers indicating the number of times in how many seconds the flood will be triggered.

For example, the following command typed into your channel:

    BServ-01 chanset flood-chan 15:60

will cause bot BServ-01 to set channel flood settings to 15 lines in 60 seconds.
If a user types more then 15 lines in any 60 second period, they will be kicked.

For example, the following command typed into your channel:

    BServ-01 chanset flood-join 10:30

will cause bot BServ-01 to set join flood settings to 10 joins in 30 seconds.
If a user (or the same user@host) joins the channel more then 10 times in any 30 second period, they will be kicked.

To disable a flood setting, use 0:0 for number:seconds

For example, the following command typed into your channel:

    BServ-14 chanset flood-chan 0:0

will cause bot BServ-14 to stop watching for channel flooding.

How do I ask my bot to OP or DEOP in my channel?

    First Login to your bot.
    Then, in your channel type:
    [botnick] op
[botnick] is nick of the bot.
    To op a user, type:
    [botnick] op [nick]
[nick] is nick of the user to op.
To deop, just use deop instead of op.
You can also private message the bot like this:
/msg [botnick] op [#channel] [nick] [#channel] is name of your channel [nick] is nick of person to op

How do I change my IDENT?

To change your ident, you first know the nick you had when
first added to the bots. This is called your "handle". If you use the wrong , it *WILL NOT* work!
If you do not know your "handle" check userlist to find it, command is:
/msg botnick userlist #yourchannel or in your channel botnick userlist
    This is the command:
    /msg [botnick] IDENT [password] [handle]
[botnick] is nick of the bot.
    [password] is your password

[handle] is your nick or "handle" on the bot Bot should respond with message telling you it added your hostmask/

If one bot does not work in your channel, try on the other one
